YOU’RE INVITED! The Foundation Board is honored to host our 7th annual Virtual Gala. This year, we continue to focus our fundraising efforts on the construction of the Armed Forces Memorial Amphitheater project certain to enhance the beautiful grounds of the Miramar National Cemetery located here in San Diego. The naming of the Amphitheater is pending approval at the National Cemetery Administration, Veteran's Administration level, but we ask that you please contribute, today...Your generous contribution can turn this dream into reality!
This event continues to be VIRTUAL!
The Miramar National Cemetery Support Foundation was honored to work with the Veterans Administration to provide the Avenue of Flags, Veterans Tribute Tower and Carillon, and to coordinate the placement of other veterans’ monuments in the cemetery. The distinctive memorials currently at Miramar National Cemetery help create a beautiful and peaceful environment for families who come to visit their loved ones – our nation’s heroes – in their final resting place. Our latest endeavor to enhance the cemetery’s Flag Assembly Area as a venue for veterans’ programs and ceremonies will provide permanent guest seating.
While a substantial amount for the project has been raised, we face the unexpected obstacles of the pandemic which include the rise in construction and labor costs along with continued supply chain issue. The cost for construction and permanent maintenance of the Amphitheater has risen over 20% with a new projected cost of $780,000.This is the largest project the Support Foundation has undertaken to date. To achieve this goal will require active participation by the public, by corporations, by veterans’ groups, by local government, and by civic organizations as the Support Foundation receives no federal government support for its activities at Miramar National Cemetery.
